Carbon filled PTFE

Release date:2023-09-15 Publisher: 原創(chuàng) Views:3476

                                                       Carbon filled PTFE

Virgin PTFE is capable in its own right, but when fillers are added, it enhances the material wear and deformation characteristics to more fully exploit their unique combination of chemical, physical and electrical properties.

The fillers can increase the thermal conductivity of PTFE. Regular fillers can be fiberglass, graphite, carbon, bronze, stainless steel, molybdenum disulfide, etc. These fillers are chosen according to the application.

The most common filled grades and its resulting enhanced mechanical properties are:

Glassfilled filled PTFE:

Glass fillers are the most widely used fillers in PTFE. Due to high wear resistance, it is used in

hydraulic piston rings. Glass in the form of short glass fibers is usually filled in quantities of 15% to

25%. Increasing the Glass filler content results in an increase in durability and compressive strength.

Carbon graphite filled PTFE

Graphite has good chemical resistance to corrosive environments and exhibits good initial wear and

rubbing/sliding characteristics in dry and water applications. Commonly blended with carbon and

 PTFE.

Molybdenum Disulfide filled PTFE

Due to low friction molybdenum disulfide fillers are used in dynamic seals. This filler is used frequently

in combination with others to increase surface hardness, stiffness, and to reduce the starting

Carbon-filled PTFE comes with the advantages of reduced deformation under heavy load, better

compressive strength, low permeability, and improved wear resistance.

Bronze-filled PTFE has good wear resistance. It is used in bearing and piston ring applications.

Stainless steel-filled PTFE can be used in applications demanding high-temperature and heavy load

 resistance.
